David is a Chartered Engineer through the IMarEST with 40 years’ experience working in the industry. He worked in subsea controls for Aker Solutions and GE before joining bp in 2005.  

David is the Senior Advisor for Subsea at bp. In addition to providing specialist advice in his practice area covering bp’s hydrocarbon and renewables business he has overall responsibility for maintenance and development of BP’s subsea standards. David represents bp on the IOGP subsea committee and jointly chairs the IOGP subsea CCS expert group. Within API he chairs the API17N and Q work streams.  

Prior to his current role David was the subsea Technical Authority for bp’s Safety and Operational Risk (S&OR) group. Earlier bp roles have included leading bp’s autonomous underwater vehicle development programme and responsibility for subsea technology management on several projects.
