Bio

Alvaro Ranero is Global Projects & Facilities Director for Repsol E&P. In his previous role he was Mexico Director, responsible for the delivery of the B29 Project, the first Deepwater Project by an IOC in the Salina Basin. Prior to this role he was Vice President for Decommissioning & Investment Management (2018-2020) and Vice President Technical Services and HSE (2015-2018) at Repsol Sinopec Resources UK, recipient of the Excellence in Decommissioning award by the OGUK, and until recently served on the Board of Directors of Decom North Sea. He has over 20 years of experience in the International Oil and Gas Industry. He began his career as a Production Engineer at Anadarko Petroleum. He holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and an Executive MBA from INSEAD.

Alvaro joined Repsol in 2005 and has since held roles of increasing responsibility. He has a wide range of experience in operations, drilling, field development, asset management and project delivery. Throughout his career he has held international assignments in the US, Guatemala, Canada, Libya, Algeria, Venezuela, and the UK.
