Hijreen Binti Ismail is the Senior Manager for Resource Development Management (RDM), leading one of the portfolio clusters under the Sabah region at MPM PETRONAS. With over 20 years of upstream experience, she has driven some of Malaysia’s most complex and high value deepwater developments, including Limbayong, Megah, and Bestari—projects that continue to shape the trajectory of Sabah’s deepwater frontier.
A Principal level certified Reservoir Geophysicist, Hijreen is also a strong force behind deepwater technology innovation. In 2025, she represented PETRONAS in the Deepwater Technology Expedition to the UK and Norway, collaborating directly with global subsea technology leaders to accelerate the adoption of next generation solutions such as the Utility Buoy/NUFF, Subsea Multiphase Pump, Pseudo Dry Gas, ColdFlow, and Advanced Subsea Autonomous Technologies (ASAT). Her advocacy significantly influenced MPM’s push for PACs to integrate these TRL advancing technologies into future deepwater developments.
Her leadership extends beyond geoscience—shaping commercial alignment, elevating subsurface to development integration, and institutionalising digital collaboration platforms within MPM to strengthen project delivery from exploration through sanction.
A respected industry voice, Hijreen has spoken at APGCE, IPTC, and EAGE, and actively champions capability development as an adjunct lecturer, industry speaker, external final year project assessor, and mentor—nurturing the next generation of geoscience and deepwater talent.
